Full-time faculty positions at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen, China

The Center of Innovative Industrial Design is currently looking to hire full-time faculty members across disciplines, with expertise in one of the four following research directions:

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

1: Innovative industrial design and user experience research (position No. HITSZ16-1601001)

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in computer science (e.g. artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning), psychology (such as cognitive psychology, engineering psychology and psychometrics), statistics, or other quantitative research areas from a well-known university. If the doctoral degree is from a domestic university in China, candidates with postdoctoral work experience overseas are preferred. Those who have professional or interdisciplinary background are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to physiological signal sensing technology and network construction, physiological and psychological testing and modeling, human-computer interaction and virtual reality, data visualization design, natural language processing, cognitive science and neurosciences. Candidates should have good research capabilities and be fluent in English teaching and communication.

2: Human-computer interface design research for industrial products (position No. HITSZ16-1601002)
 Applicants should have a doctoral degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, computer science, ergonomics, digital media design or other related areas from a well-known university. If the doctoral degree is from a domestic university in China, candidates with postdoctoral work experience overseas are preferred. Applicants should have research experience in human-computer interface design, including virtual reality product interface design. They should be proficient in computer programming and related digital product design software. They should have research experience with user research, interface research, or sociological research related to human-computer interaction. They should be familiar with state-of-the-arts research in human-computer interaction, have excellent research capabilities, preferably have experience with interdisciplinary projects, and be fluent in English teaching and communication.

3: Industrial Space Design and Digitalization Research (position No. HITSZ16-1601003)

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Design from a well-known university. If the doctoral degree is from a domestic university in China, candidates with postdoctoral work experience overseas are preferred. Applicants should have interest in research areas such as urban and industrial space design, architecture, interior design for vehicles and equipment, furniture, lighting, and display design. They should have solid research skills, be able to work in an interdisciplinary research environment, and be fluent in English teaching and communication.

4: Appearance and communication design of industrial products (position No. HITSZ16-1601004)

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related areas from a well-known university. If the doctoral degree is from a domestic university, candidates with postdoctoral work experience overseas are preferred. Applicants should have interest in research areas such as audio-visual communication design and practice, appearance design of industrial products, web design and digital media interface design. They should have excellent research capabilities, be able to work in an interdisciplinary research environment, be fluent in English for teaching and communication, and have strong design skills.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Teaching: The selected candidates will participate in academic affairs related to discipline development. He/she will develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervise graduate students.
2.Research: The selected candidate should have a clear research direction, and be actively conducting research projects funded at the national, provincial, or municipal level or by business partners. He/she should have publications in the form of papers in top journals (as first author or corresponding author), monographs, textbooks, etc.
3.Discipline development: The selected candidate should work actively for the development of the discipline, and be in charge of or participate in team-building efforts.
4.Lab development: The selected candidate should actively participate in the development of labs.
5.Other: the selected candidate is expected to carry out international cooperation and academic exchange activities, chair or participate in international academic conferences, promote the center and school, actively participate in community service, and perform other tasks specified in the contract.
